NEW LEGACY FUND TRUSTEE APPOINTED

By Fred Thoelke-Chairman

The Trust is pleased to announce that Don Roscoe of Kasota, MN. has accepted a two year appointment to serve as a Legacy Fund Trustee. Don is well known within the pigeon hobby, having raised, shown and judged pigeons for over 60 years. He was presented the NPA 50 Year Membership Award at the Mt. Clemens Grand National. Don is also the recipient of the NPA Hall of Fame Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and is a NPA All-Breeds Master Judge. Don is a breeder of Carneaus, Giant Homers and Komorner Tumblers. Don retired from teaching at Mankato State University in 1996 where he was a professor of geography. Wayne Fischer, John Heppner and I welcome Don, as we all work to earn your trust and fulfill our responsibility as Trustees to prudently safeguard Legacy Fund assets and closely monitor accountability for investment income.

The Trustee term for both Don Roscoe and Fred Thoelke will be up for a membership vote during the 2013 NPA election cycle. All NPA members will have the opportunity to vote for a new or a current candidate, should they choose to run for reelection. If you are a NPA member with a strong desire to help strengthen the NPA, you may wish to become involved by becoming a Trustee candidate during the 2013 election. Here you would be running to serve a four year term as a Legacy Fund Trustee; so if you are interested, please let your intentions be known to the NPA Sec. /Treas.

It is my intention to appoint the fourth Trustee sometime in the next several months thereby fulfilling the Trust agreement's initial mandate of four trustees plus the current President of the NPA.

After the final trustee is appointed, a majority of the trustees will select from among themselves or from others, a Legacy Fund Raising Chairperson. This Chairperson will likely prepare a well thought out Capital Campaign to endow the Trust.

There will be numerous other opportunities that will present themselves to help fund the Trust and one of the nicest gestures so far has come from Steve and Noelle StClair who have offered to donate $1.00 from every completed transaction from their new high quality www.A-1PigeonAuction.com pigeon auction site, to the Legacy Fund Trust as a way to further the pigeon hobby. (tentative start date 8/1/2011)

The very first Legacy Fund Trust Honor Roll list of contributors is planned for the first NPA Quarterly Review of 2012.

If you wish to be recognized as one of the initial supporters, having your name, date of first contribution and breed listed in this first Quarterly Review, as well as every year thereafter, you may send your donation to the NPA home office made out to the NPA Legacy Fund Trust.

You may review the Legal Trust Agreement in its entirety at the NPA Website listed under INFO. or read it in an upcoming NPA Quarterly Review. Please contact me and I will be happy to field any questions you may have.
